It was very busy last assignment week, and the worse thing is my computer is complete destroyed. I saved everything in my computer, my assignment, the notes, my photo and all the information that I downloaded from the net. In a word, I lost everything. I don’t know how it was destroyed. In order to do the assignment, I’ve no time to wait, so I got a new laptop. So that is the digital age, everything has two sides, positive and negative; it is the first time I experienced the terrible half of the digital technology. Although it is convenient, bigger storage than your brain, you may be lost them suddenly. So I suggest everybody save your important in another hard drive, or you can save them on the net. For example, some assignments I emailed lectures, now I can get them back from my outbox, and something that I uploaded on my blog could be back.

The Future Of Print Media

On the course of research method, we discussed the future of print media. Now we know we are living in a digital age, more and more technology was created and developed in recent 20 and 30 years, such as computer, digital camera, mobile phone, etc. So following with the development of digital device more and more information was existed and published in the digital form , it has impacted the traditional print media . What’s the future of the print media? It will still play an important role in people’s life, or it will be replaced by the digital media? Some researchers mentioned different view.

“People around the world, who need to and want to consume information, whether it is in developing countries or emerging countries, newsprint is still going to be a main mechanism for information for years to come.” So says Joshua Karp, founder of the new hybrid print-digital media service. [1] Somebody believes the print media couldn’t be replaced.

Now it is a generally accepted opinion in the media world: online is overtaking print. [2] But someone consider the print media is going to die.

It’s easy to see that the digital media is going to replace the print media, but I think it couldn’t be happened, in other words, very difficult. The print media has been existing for a long time, it must have its own superiority. The newspapers still have a big market in the digital age. Many people prefer reading book to on line. But print media face a big challenge now, and I think it will have a reformation in the future. How to develop the print media? All news needs to be published on the web first. [3] I think the timeliness is very important for the news. The print media should combine with the web. Take advantage of the digital media to develop itself.

typeface

Today we watched a film on the visual communication which tells about graphic design, font design.  Many good designers in the big companies work for this. They talk about the color about the typeface, the shape about the typeface, how to named the typeface, what does the designers need to do, and so on.
Actually I think the font is important, on the way home wei wang talked about something on the font. Some special typeface can give people deep impression, that’s why the designer designs lots different types every year. The new types can be used continuous by different companies as a logo or official documentary, to build up the company image.
Such as Arial and Helvetica, are very popular at present. I think because they are more readable and comfortable. Wei told me they are having their own history, they came from some ancient typeface. But anyway we can see them every day ,I think it will be changed in the future.
